13 January 2009 ![]() A man is suing his wife as they are going through a divorce for the amount of $1.5 million or she can simply give back his kidney. The man donated his kidney to save her life and now they have been involved in a long divorce. He either wants the kidney back or $1.5 million. He is upset because he gave her the kidney and then she cheated on him with another man. Here is the link: Link Now it appears that this man feels that him giving his kidney to her gave the woman a certain obligation to stay married to him. It got me thinking about how people approach obligation in marriage. Some people feel obligated to marriage for different reasons. 1. Vows Some people will stay with a person their entire life simply because they promised at the alter to stay married. 2. Kids There are those who will stay in a marriage because they don't want to do damage to their kids. 3. God Others stay married because they feel that God has commanded it. 4. Donating a kidney At least one guy believes this was enough. Now on the other side, we have those who feel there are reasons they would get out of a marriage. 1. Cheating Some people will get out of a relationship if the person cheats on him/her. 2. Abuse Some people will leave because of abuse. 3. Emotional abuse Some people will leave a relationship because of constant fighting. 4. Out of Love Some people will simply say they have fallen out of love. 5. Found someone better Some people have discovered someone who is more attractive, fun or simply better in bed. Do you feel you are obligated to a marriage simply because you gave your word at the alter? |
